All cozy during a blizzard

snowyhouseOur midwest blizzard has finally materialized and we’re safely in our cozy home.  The wind is roaring and the snow is blowing horizontally outside my upstairs office window.  I’ve lit my Jack Frost votive candle and switched out the CD from Christmas in New England to Christmas Harp.  The little Christmas tree and garland around my windows are lit. The new bird block is in the feeder hanging outside my window.  I can hear David and Caroline playing with TinkerToys downstairs (pink and purple ones, no less!).  I have my cup of coffee in a Christmas mug decorated with pine boughs and pine cones.  Meals are made for the day with leftover Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice Soup and Ham and Creamy Potatoes so I should have time to do something special like make monkey bread which is one of Caroline’s favorites.

Now I’m ready to settle in and do some work.

I hope you have a cozy day, too!

  1. I knew you had to be getting the full force of the blizzard! From what I heard, you had a combination of blizzard and lake affect snow… yikes. 8O

Sigh, those colors take me back to the years Stephanie loved pink and purple. We look at pictures from her preschool years through about second grade and get a laugh, especially at the 1980s pink and purple leg warmers. :)

    Enjoy, Sallie!

My youngest son came over today to play with his niece and nephews. LOVE the happy sounds coming from my living room!

My youngest was up at 5:00 asking if school was cancelled…no such luck ,we are just south of the storm . We were all looking forward to a snow day! LOVE SNOW DAYS!!! Is that your home ? It is lovely.

Brenda – We missed the initial storm. Just a little dusting. It was really anti-climatic yesterday after all the hype. But the lake effect snow machine has kicked in and it is piling up now. They also extended the blizzard warning until tomorrow morning.

Karen – No, it isn’t our house in the picture. Just a stock photo I found and love. :D

  5. Oh how I wish we would get some snow! Enjoy for all of us southerners….

Oddly enough, here in Nashville we’re suppose to get snow next Tuesday and Thursday – Christmas Eve. I don’t think there has been a White Christmas here in a generation or so.
