One of my very favorite movies is going to be on Turner Classic Movies in a few days so I can FINALLY tape a copy of it! It isn’t available on DVD and outrageously-priced bootlegged VHS copies are all that is generally available. For a few years I was able to order it from a library far away, but it isn’t even available there any longer. But my dad saw it will be on this Sunday at 10:00 a.m. so he is going to tape it for me.
So what is this movie?
The Enchanted Cottage (1945) starting Robert Young and Dorothy McGuire. TCM has a trailer and info, but be warned that the trailer doesn’t do the movie justice. I also noticed that in the online voting, The Enchanted Cottage is ranked 13 by viewers as the movie they would most like to see available on DVD.
My favorite line from the movie: A man and woman in love have a gift of sight not granted to other people.
If you like older movies and romances, you should check this out.

I’ll be looking for that one. Robert Young is one of my favorite “old time” actors. I remember when he was old and I wasn’t.

Merry Christmas! I decided to watch the movie. Boy was it a good one! I really enjoyed it and being a single person I found it very inspiring. It should be out on dvd…….excellent movie! 5 stars!
Thanks for mentioning it. I watched it this morning it was so sweet .I realize now why I thought my husbands bald head was actually growing hair after we married! No one else seemed to notice . lol
I love this movie. Every time I watch it I tear up. Especially if I’m home alone (and maybe sick)….then when my hubby comes home I feel so romantic!

Looks like a great movie! I just reserved it at my library, but I’ll have to look and see if TCM is playing it again any time soon!
