If you’ve read my blog for at least a few years, you know that summer and I don’t mix well. I wilt from the heat and humidity and have struggled with seasonal affective disorder even in the summer. But not this summer.
We are currently clearly on track to have the coolest July on record. Yes, in the 120 years since they have been keeping records here in Grand Rapids, this will be the coolest July. Our high today is to be 79 and then the next four days the highs will be 69, 68, 73, and 77. We’ve already set one record and tied another for the lowest high temperature for two different days.
I can’t even find the words to express how much I appreciate this weather. We’ve hardly had to run the air conditioner the past few weeks. I’m sitting here on July 16 in front of two open windows with a soft, cool breeze blowing on me. Heaven on earth.
In the not so exciting department, I’ve headed back to physical therapy. I’m not nearly as bad as I was, but still having some different problems. Hopefully this round will take care of all the things that have been bothering me.
Caroline is finally getting those wretched two year molars in. It has really dragged her down, the poor thing. Her antidote? Reclining on the big bear chair my parents got her from Land’s End a couple Christmases ago and watching “Mr. Darcy” as she calls it. What do you do with a two and a half year old who begs to watch Pride and Prejudice? She’s mostly fascinated with the dancing so I think we’ve had the first disc in a lot more than the second. It is hilarious to watch her watch it because she is so into it.
I’ve been updating my learning blog again if that interests you. I had let that go a bit while I was down physically, but I’ve been doing some fun things with Caroline and have started catching up on the posting.

We’ve had a wonderful July here too in the Northeast. It’s almost hard to believe it’s summer, it’s so different from our usual summers. June was very very wet, but July has been truly amazing.
On a side note, they say that global warming is causing different weather changes in different places, not necessarily everyone getting warmer etc. Some places will get hotter and drier and some places cooler. If this is what global warming is going to do in my area, bring it on
Absolutely! It’s enough to make me want to run out and create a bunch of emissions to ensure these nice summers.
It’s been very nice here, too. We had one week of really hot weather and then it has either been slightly below normal or really below normal.
My daughter says in New England they haven’t really had any summer, yet.
By the way, when her older kids were preschoolers, when they talked about “going to town” they meant Bath or London, hehehe.
Hope physical therapy goes well and hope all gets straightened out!
I envy you your weather! We’ve had one of the hottest Julys on record so far. Nine straight days of 100+! Everyone is thrilled with the cold front coming through that will cool us down to the lower 90′s! At least that is more where we should be this time of year here in Texas. And we are dry as a bone unfortunately.
Ladies- move to England!
Matthew is teething badly at the moment- he is an awful grump and his tongue has come out in sores too. Poor boy. He is 21 months
