The blonde does a jigsaw puzzle

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

I adore blonde jokes. My friend, JoAnne, sent this one to me. Enjoy!

A blond calls her boyfriend and says, “Please come over here and help me. I have a killer jigsaw puzzle and I can’t even figure out how to get started!”

Her boyfriend asks, “What is it supposed to be when it’s finished?”

The blond says, “According to the picture on the box, it’s a rooster.”

Her boyfriend decides to go over and help with the puzzle.

She lets him in and shows him where she has the puzzle spread all over the table.

He studies the pieces for a moment, then looks at the box, then turns to her and says, “First of all, no matter what we do, we’re not going to be able to assemble these pieces into anything resembling a rooster.”

He takes her hand and says, “Second, I want you to relax. Let’s have a nice cup of tea, and then…” he said with a deep sigh, “Let’s put all the Corn Flakes back in the box.”

Best blogs and websites we’ve never visited

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

Since the blogging world generally slows down quite a bit over the Thanksgiving weekend, I thought I would give everyone a chance to give a plug for some of their favorite places.

Feel free to leave a comment and recommend a few of your favorite blogs and/or websites with which people probably aren’t familiar. Try to point us in the direction of lesser known, but high quality places. The only guideline is that it has to be family friendly.

Since time is so precious for everyone, please give a few words to explain the “flavor” of the site so people will know if they want to click through and check it out. Maybe just something like “mom site” or “left of center environmental blog” or “quiverfull homemaking” or “professional single women” or “Reformed theological group blog”.

I look forward to discovering some new treasures! I hope you do as well!  :-)

New Poll – How often do you eat pizza?

Monday, September 24th, 2007

We like pizza. A lot. We eat it often in various forms – homemade, frozen, take and bake, etc. I don’t think a week goes by very often when we don’t have pizza.

How about you? How often do you eat pizza?

And, just for the record, our pizza of choice is pepperoni and green olives!

Caroline celebrates 4-0!

Saturday, September 22nd, 2007

It really isn’t my intention to turn this into a sports blog!

But I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that Michigan State is the first team EVER to beat Notre Dame six in at row in South Bend. MSU knocked them off today, leaving Notre Dame 0-4 for the first time in their 119-year history. My poor OB/GYN who delivered Caroline. He is a huge Notre Dame fan, graduating from there as well. Can’t wait to see him in a few weeks for a check-up!

(And praise must be given where it is due. Congrats to my bloggy friends who pull for the Maize and Blue after knocking off Penn State who is currently ranked #10.)

And in the category of you never can predict what a child is absorbing… The football in the photo is one my parents gave me a couple of years ago as kind of a goofy gift. If you hit it, it says, “Go Spartans!” If you hit it again, it plays a segment of the fight song. I got it out just before football season started, thinking Caroline might enjoy playing with it. Today we were listening to the game on the radio and when MSU scored I woohooed and said, “Go Spartans!” Caroline IMMEDIATELY looked for the football.

Scary.

Which brings me to another Caroline is listening story that I just haven’t had time to type up. This was several weeks ago. Caroline is really fascinated by lights and loves it if we will flip them off and on (and off and on and off and on….). David and I were sitting in the wingback chairs in the living room and Caroline was sitting on the floor at our feet, playing with something. David said something about Caroline liking the lights and she looked up, and pointed to all three lamps that were on.

Yeesh.

So even though I’ve known it for a long time (I was an elementary school teacher, after all), it was a good reminder that our little girl is a sponge whenever she is in our presence!

Good night!

Could the weekend be any better? Watching the UM fans experience a meltdown of Biblical proportions

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

I also posted this over at Sallie’s Stack, but in case you don’t make it over there and because this it too good to not continually post all over the internet…

Read ‘em and weep snicker rejoice smile (Assorted recaps from Michigan’s historic and ultimate embarrassment of a loss to Appalachian State) from MLive

Yes, I am a Michigan State Spartan and this truly is fantabulous to watch after dealing with the insufferable fans from UM for the past thirty plus years. I don’t care how bad it makes the Big Ten look to some people and I don’t even care if we lose to them in a few weeks. (Well, ok, I do care about that.) But at least we didn’t suffer THE WORST LOSS EVER IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL!!!  Bwaahaahaa!!!!!

Ok, now nice Sallie will return.  :-)

Michigan Christmas trees

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

It’s beginning to look a lot like… well, September, actually, since it was rainy and overcast here today. But this post is about Christmas trees. Live ones, delivered to your door. And not just trees but also wreaths, swags and and garland. All sent freshly from my home state of Michigan.

One of my favorite parts of decorating for Christmas is putting a beautiful Christmas wreath on the garage. I love to see the snow pile up on it throughout the season. (Truth be told, our wreath on the garage stays up all winter! I love seeing it up there and when you live someplace snowy like we do, you can do that!)

So, if you live someplace where you can’t go out and just pick out your own Christmas tree or you would like to send a Fir, Pine or Blue Spruce to someone, you can check out ChristmasFarms.com.

Happy holiday planning! :-)
